The word “aspiration” comes from the Latin “aspirare” meaning “to breathe upon, to blow up,” or “to aspire to or seek to attain”. Aspirations are typically something of great value or significance we desire or long for.
I think one of the greatest desires that’s almost universal is having peace in our lives and our society. Loving and being loved is another aspiration that is hardwired into most humans. Our aspirations drive our personal growth and spiritual development.
Consider the single candle burning in the dark. The flame is symbolic of hope and provides guidance in the dark. When seeking to fulfil an aspiration there can be a lot of uncertainty and adversity to overcome. Light and guidance are crucial elements.
The candle flame is resilient. Harsh winds may blow it out, but it can be relit to provide persistent guidance on the journey. Challenges can blow out the flame of an aspiration, but it can be restarted and persist toward the goal.
