Fun With Ambient Occlusion & Midjourney

In August 2023 I wrote a post about playing with Ambient Occlusion in Midjourney. Yesterday I received a comment asking me some questions about what prompts I used.

As I was looking up the prompts I used, it occurred to me it might be interesting to see what the same prompts would look like in version 6.0 and while I’m at it, I’ll share the prompts.

If you don’t know what ambient occlusion is, this is the quick answer:

Ambient Occlusion are the shadowy effects seen in digital works. It helps to make things look more realistic by adding the shadows in places where light doesn’t typically reach.

I wrote a fuller explanation in the post above. Ambient Occlusion isn’t concerned with the colour in an image, just the whites and the shadows.

I found it interesting how Midjourney v6 showed up using the prompts. The original images where created in Midjourney v5.2. I used the prompts and seed value to create the v6 images.
